Modding Starter Guide for Android
This guide will walk you through the basics of modding files on your Android device, providing you with the tools and knowledge necessary to start making your own modifications. If you don’t have access to a PC, you might want to refer to a guide specifically tailored for modding on Android without a PC.
Software
Windows
APK Editing Tool
For Windows users, the recommended tool is APK Editor Studio. This tool simplifies the process by combining various utilities into a user-friendly interface. It's essential to ensure that APK signing and optimization features are functioning correctly; otherwise, the APK might build but fail to start or install properly.
Text Editor
While Windows comes with Notepad, it's usually insufficient for this task. It's advisable to install Notepad++, which we will refer to as the "Text Editor" throughout this guide.
Linux
APK Editor Studio is also available for Linux, but you may find other tools more accessible on this platform. Although you can use tools like apktool, jarsigner/apksigner, zipalign, and adb from the terminal, this guide will not cover those methods.
Preparation
With the necessary software installed, let’s move on to downloading other essential resources and setting up your environment for modding.
APK File
You will need to obtain an APK file for modding. The quickest and safest way to do this is by downloading it from trusted sources like APKMirror or APKPure. However, if you need an older version of the app, you may need to search for alternative download sites.
Android Device
On your Android device, you’ll need to enable ADB debugging in the developer options. You can find tutorials online that will guide you through this process.
Modding

We'll start with modding a checkpoint file.
